2011 International year of Volunteers 10th Anniv Stamp and Coin Cover
2011 marks the 10th anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers (IYV+10)
and is an oppportunity for Australia to join a global effort to promote community participation through valunteering.
Australia is running a number of events and releasing a National Volunteering
Strategy, to recognise and acknowledge the contribution of more than five million volunteers who each year give their time, energy and expertise to support their communities.
Volunteers do everything from helping disadvantaged children learn to read, to providing assistance in times of natural disaster, to preservation of our environment, providing assistance in times of natural disaster, to preservation of our environment. IYV + 10 activities aim to raise the profile of volunteering and increase the number in two United Nations General Assembly sessions dedicated to volunteerism and the release of the first-ever report on the State of the World's Volunteerism.
