The First World War broke out in 1914. Britain declared war on Germany on 4 August 1914, and Australia sent troops to Europe to support the war effort.
On 25 April 1915, Australian and the allied troops landed at Gallipoli. They put up a good fight against Turkish troops for more than 8 months. This year marks the Centenary of the ANZAC day.
The Australia Post has issued this Centenary of Gallipoli Commemorative Collection - a set of 5 Medallion Covers - to mark the occasion. The 5 Medallion Covers include: The Landing, LCPL Albert Jacka VC MC, Lone Pipe, the Evacuation, Field Medicine.
