ROYAL AUSTRALIAN NAVY 1911 - 2011 STAMP AND COIN COVER
Available for delivery from 14th June
The Perth Mint and Australia Post mark the 100th anniversary of the Royal Australian Navy with this stunning commemorative Stamp and Coin Cover. On 1 March 1901, exactly two months after the Federation of Australia, responsibility for the former colonies’ naval forces passed to the new Commonwealth Government, setting in train developments resulting in the emergence of the Royal Australian Navy in 1911.
Struck by The Perth Mint in aluminium bronze, the coin’s reverse depicts the official Navy badge incorporating the St Edwards (Queens) Crown and the inscription ROYAL AUSTRALIAN NAVY 100 YEARS 1911 – 2011.
Affixed to the presentation envelope are two official Australia Post stamps. The first 60c stamp features HMAS Australia I, which was the Royal Australian Navy’s first flagship. The second 60c stamp features HMAS Sydney IV, representing the strength of the Australian Navy’s current fleet.
