2008 Fine Silver Proof Set (World Money Fair Berlin)

The General Assembly of the United Nations has declared 2008 the ‘International Year of Planet Earth’. Among the key areas of study for the International Year of Planet Earth (IPYE) are aspects of climate change and water resources. As our country struggles with the aftermath of drought, these subjects are especially relevant to the Australian experience.

The Royal Australian Mint has recognised the importance of this year and has adopted the theme for its 2008 Year Sets. The Year Set designs were developed in partnership with Geoscience Australia – a peak body for IPYE activities in Australia.
