Australians have never forgotten the Kokoda campaign of 1942. Displaying courage, endurance, mateship and sacrifice. Australians soldiers halted the Japanese invasion of Papua and New Guinea. During the campaign Australian soldiers forged strong links with Papuan and New Guineans who were affectionatly known as "Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels". The angels were responsible for ferrying sick and wounded Australian soldiers to safety. There contribution to the war effort will always be remembered.
