SYDNEY ANDA COIN SHOW SPECIAL - AUSTRALIAN LUNAR SERIES II - 2012 YEAR OF THE DRAGON 1OZ SILVER COLOURED EDITION
Portraying this year’s design from the Australian Lunar Silver Coin Series II, this coin celebrates the dragon, the fifth of the twelve animals associated with the ancient Chinese Lunar Calendar. The dragon on the coin is pad printed in blue, one of the nine colours featured on the famous Nine Dragon Wall in China. The reverse of the coin depicts a blue dragon with a representation of a pearl. The colour blue is deeply significant, representing the healing element of water, prosperity, eternity and peace. The Chinese character for ‘dragon’ and the inscription YEAR OF THE DRAGON also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
