Curious about the palace he asks one of the servants about the owner and learns that it belongs to a rich, noble sailor, also named Sinbad, who is famous for his incredible travels. Despite the many challenges Sinbad the Sailor faced on his voyages he always prevailed, lured by the thrill and excitement of the sea. Throughout his seven voyages Sinbad and his crew sailed on-board his trusty ship, the Chimera, cruising across the danger-ridden seas, and encountering a variety of adventures along the way.
Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality. The coin’s reverse portrays a representation of the Chimera sailing in the background, with Sinbad the Sailor standing on a rocky outcrop with his sword in the foreground. The inscriptions ‘Sinbad The Sailor’ and ‘The Chimera’ also feature as part of the design.
Each coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, and features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2015 year-date, and the monetary denomination on its obverse.
The coin is presented in a wooden case in the shape of a book and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
