Minted for Brisbane's 2017 Ekka, and distinguished by a 'B' Counterstamp, this unique Australian legal tender type commemorates the centenary of the Trans-Australian railway. A must-have for all serious decimal collectors, the mintage is just 3,000!
In 1917, the Trans-Australian Railway was completed, creating a link between Western Australia and the eastern states. Following five years of construction, and nearly two decades of planning and discussion following the Federation of Australia in 1901, on October 17, 1917, the line - extending across 1,693 kilometres - was deemed ready for freight and passenger services.
